Bit of an intro

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to thank you for checking out my blog!

The main reason I have started this is to help other ladies out there who dont want to spend a fortune for their wedding. I got married in October of 2008 for just under $3000. We had a lovely day, everybody got fed, everybody danced and we even had Leo Sayer there to sing us a few songs.

We didnt have a budget. I just bought a few things every week and spent hours at night (Im an insomniac lol) searching the internet for bargains and hints on how to keep the cost down. Here is a rough break down of what we spent -

Celebrant - $360
DJ - $320
Venue hire (including food for 50 people) $1000
Dress - $500
Veil - $12 off ebay
Shoes - $11 on sale at the local shoe shop
Jewellery - necklace for $19 from Diva
Hair - $60 from my local hairdresser
Make up & nails - $70 by a friend's friend
Flowers (silk) - around $200 for bouquet, 2 metal 'handbags' full of flowers, 4 button holes and enough flowers for centrepieces and scatters
Decorations - around $50 spent on cake topper ($10 from ebay) bubbles ($20 from ebay) Vases x 10 @ $1.50 each at local $2 shop
Cake - $58 from Coles supermarket
Bridesmaid dresses - $300 each (paid for my bridesmaids)
Grooms suit - $260 from casual guy
Page boy suits - hired for $200
Favors - Personalised chocolates $1 each put in tulle bags ($8 for 100)

You dont need to spend thousands of dollars to have a beautiful day. I hope you find some useful tips in this blog. If you have any questions or would like to add any tips of your own, please contact me
